The Story begins in August 1978 when Roger Safra started out as a sole interstate manufacturer’s agent for washers/ spring washers/clips, etc. The company name was suggested by Roger’s wife who used SA (South Australia) and the surname Safra’s as an anagram. (‘Sassafras’ is actually an American & Tasmanian tree whose root is often used for medicinal purposes. It is also the name of a place in NSW & Victoria).

The first premises was situated in a small office in the city for 4 years before moving to Kent Town. Then Sassafras Agencies moved to its current location in Hindmarsh in 1996. Over the years the company has expanded its range of products and the number of staff is now over 20 with regular customers from all over South Australia including Riverland, South-East, Port Augusta, Whyalla as well as interstate.
